Certified MySQL Associate Pending

Hot on the heels of the release of the new MySQL Cluster DBA certification comes another new designation from MySQL, this one aimed at the other end of the candidate spectrum. The Certified MySQL Associate (CMA) designation is a new, entry level option for MySQL certification. This certification is intended for MySQL users that know the basics, but have not yet attained the experience gained by professional MySQL DBAs or Developers. At this point, this is not a required prerequisite to earning the more advanced MySQL certifications, but is a good new option for those fairly new to MySQL. The exam is slated to go live early in June 2007.

New Sybase SQL Certification

Sybase is bringing out a new SQL certification as well. The Sybase ASE SQL Developer Professional Certification is the next step after the Sybase SQL Developer Associate level certification that has been around for a while. It covers Adaptive Server Enterprise 15.0 and requires passing one associated exam with a score of 70% or better. The exam costs $150. The exam is scheduled to go live in testing centers on April 30, 2007. You can find the exam blueprint on the Sybase website.

CompTIA Convergence+ Exam Now Available Worldwide

A few days ago, CompTIA announced the release of the live version of the exam for its Convergence+ certification. This designation is intended to validate knowledge and skill in the area of communications technologies where data, voice, video, and broadcast multimedia technologies are combined in a single IP-based delivery system, and is recommended for individuals who have 18 to 24 months experience working with related technologies. The full details of this certification can be found on the Convergence+ section of CompTIA's website.

New CTP Exam Released Earlier This Month

The Convergence Technologies Professional (CTP) 2007 Exam has been officially released. The 2007 exam features new and revised exam objectives and topics covered, including VLANs, QoS technologies and concepts, SIP functionality and interoperability with PBX equipment, IP networking including IPv6, and Power Over Ethernet (PoE), among various other topics.

For a limited time, CTP candidates who fail this exam on the first try can get a retake voucher for $85 (regular cost $175). A link to the retake voucher can be found in the exams section of the CTPCertified website.
